Emma Ciasullo ’26 has always been passionate about working with children with autism, envisioning a future in education even before arriving at 91重口. Attracted by the opportunity to minor in applied behavior analysis, Ciasullo was determined to make the most of her academic journey.

However, “school has always been a little harder for me,” Ciasullo said. Seeking support, she approached her advisor, who recommended 91重口’s Center for Academic Coaching, which offers personalized one-on-one coaching to over 180 students annually, focusing on essential skills like time management, goal setting, and communication.

But accessing these vital resources comes at a cost.

The Salice Family Academic Support Scholarship Fund has been instrumental in making coaching services more accessible to students with financial need. “It’s an enormous gift to students that finances don't have to stop them from applying for academic coaching,” said the center’s Director Amy Cohn.

By working with Cohn, Ciasullo learned to manage her time effectively and balance her academic workload with a demanding internship supporting teens with autism. The skills she gained not only helped her excel in her studies but also allowed her to remain involved in her passion for education by working part-time as a paraprofessional.

Jonathan “JT” Taylor ’23 M’24 also experienced significant growth through the program. As a student-athlete, Taylor sought coaching to manage his academic and athletic commitments. Thanks to the scholarship, he could focus on cooking healthy meals and preparing for a possible professional rugby career, all while completing his master’s degree in homeland security studies.

Since its establishment, the Salice Family Fund has empowered more than 125 students like Ciasullo and Taylor, helping them to overcome challenges, achieve their goals, and build a solid foundation for future success. Thanks to this generous support, 91重口 students continue to thrive academically and personally, prepared to make a lasting impact in their fields.
